Here is another Suzuki Savage with a military theme. I like Brandon's bike better.

The Suzuki Biplane which was revealed at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show is a concept motorbike inspired by Biplanes. Rather an unusual source of inspiration, the design uses colors similar to the canvas often found on older aircraft, and the lack of any wind protection would also leave the rider exposed to the elements - similar to the pilot of an open-top aircraft.

The Suzuki Biplane concept uses a semi-exposed V4 engine for power, and a girder-type front end, similar to that found on the Confederate Wraith, for steering and front suspension. The partly covered rear wheel and flush seat-to-tank design is similar to those found on the 1986 Suzuki Nuda concept bike.

Roehr Motorcycles 1250sc Review

After apexing the final corner at Blackhawk Farms Raceway and getting on the fat part of the rear tire, I dial up the throttle of the Harley-sourced high-performance V-Twin to rocket me up the front straight on this radical new American-made sportbike.

At this point you might assume I’m behind the bars of one of Erik Buell’s latest sporting machines, but the fertile mind of Buell had nothing to do with the innovative steed that is hurling me through the Wisconsin forest. And Buell surely must be envious that the most powerful of his American bikes are down almost 50 horsepower from the exclusive new Roehr 1250sc.
Response from the stock V-Rod fuel injectors was glitch-free everywhere except for a slight kink when dialing on throttle from a closed position. A stiffly sprung throttle is mostly to blame, but the linkage itself seemed to provide excessive drag. Once the right grip is twisted open, you’d best be prepared for a never-ending blast of grunt that sweeps through its five-speed gearbox like nothing else on wheels. The small V-Rod tachometer could be a bit more conspicuous, but shifting, say, 500 revs early hinders acceleration only as much as an extra carry-on bag does on a Boeing 373

Two wheels and a prayer

The Y2K is one of the fastest, coolest bikes ever made. Rah, rah!
A bike that can leave a flying jet behind? An exhaust that melts car bumpers which dare come too close? Behold the Y2K, the bike that makes its celeb owners even more famous. It’s that kinda bike. American talk show host Jay Leno, who owns a fabulous collection of bikes, rates the Y2K among his favourites. Run a Y2K Google search and log in to audio clips of its 320 bhp jet engine crescendo. Check out the video clip of Y2K overtaking a jet in a Discovery Channel test. Flying low just got itself a new meaning. Are we ready, readers

Bikes on eBay: Six Speed Bagger

Here's a spiffy bagger for the Road Glide fans.
Bright red paint and flames are just the beginning. The slew of tweaks and mods is too long to list here. But backing it all up is a 150 horse motor and a 180 rear tire.
The bike is offered by American Classic Motors in the Philadelphia area. Bid early, bid often!

127" Six Speed Bagger

Scooters and Other Two -Wheeled Fare

I've grown up around motorcycles most of my life. But now, our lives revolve around our young daughter. That's probably one of the reasons I got into Airstreams. Camping is a little more family-friendly than motorcycling.

It's funny how life can take a turn when you least expect it. Just when I was getting ready to enjoy my first big riding season on my VFR, I was presented with an opportunity to purchase a 1957 Nash Metropolitan, a car I have wanted to own for a long time. The only way to get the car was to sell the bike. So, that's what I did. I was sad to see it go, but my '57 Met makes me happy wherever I go. Ironically, my Metropolitan has exactly twice the displacement of the VFR and exactly half the horsepower. It's just a different kind of fun. Here are some pictures of my VFR just before I sold it.

You can really see the cosmetic improvements I made since the pictures above were taken.

I polished the factory pipe. It gives it a nice aftermarket look without the elevated noise level.

I did a lot of work to bring back the luster of the plastics. I think the bike was really starting to come together.

I'm really fond of the yellow on the 2000 Honda VFR
This is a Honda concept bike called the "New American Sports". Now, if they would just make it.

Machines from 'American Chopper' coming to UK

One of the choppers from the show, probably

A WEALTHY BRITISH motorcycle enthusiast has bought a collection of motorcycles made famous by the hit TV show American Chopper.

Alan Hardcastle, director of international bike firm LIA Imports, splashed out over £500,000 bikes featured on Discovery Channel's American Chopper series.

Alan said: "It's something just to look at these machines, let alone ride them."

Suzuki SV1000
While the faired SV isn’t to everyone’s taste – its sporty riding position can put a bit of a strain on your wrists making it a pain through town – the naked version comes with flat bars and a comfier and much more upright riding position. And like the SV650, this ...

American Bikes

Joan's Harley Night Train is lowered almost 2 inches, has a rear wide tire kit, Thunderstar wheels, and custom pegs, brake lever, braided lines, chrome highlight, an upgraded motor (95 cu. in.), with Screaming Eagle heads and a Thunderheader exhaust -- dyno'ed at 95 hp (at the rear wheel) and 102 lbs. torque.

The custom paint is courtesy of Bill Duncan.
The chopper, over ten feet long, was built on a Pat Kennedy frame, with a 52 degree rake. It has a Dyna Wide Glide rear fender stretched 4 inches in width, a stretched peanut gas tank, BDL 4" open primary drive, prototype BDL rear disc brake, twin ISR 9" front disc brakes, S & S carburetor, Sampson shotgun exhaust, and hidden wiring. Originally, the bike had a remote starter, but because it drained the battery, Jim soon replaced that with a tiny button starter button on the handlebar.

The VRod is now owned by our friend Tom Powell.

In July, 2007, Willie G. Davidson was Grand Marshal at the Mid-Ohio Vintage Motorcycle Days. Joan was lucky enough to get "Willie G" to sign her Night Train.

AUTOMOBILES,,Fuel-less Biking

Fuel-less Biking
Electric cars sure make news, but it is electric bikes that are already cruising rural India. The rise in fuel prices must have something to do with it, of course, but the trend to ride green, which swept Europe in the 1990s, appears to have finally arrived in India.

Gujarat-based Electrotherm (India)’s Yobykes are selling fast in tier-II cities such as Surat and Nasik; they lead the electric two-wheeler market with over 50,000 units sold so far. If Hero Cycles counts the noise-free 250-watt motor Ultra Maxi as its bestseller, the TVS Group’s Teenz, priced at Rs 20,000-Rs 35,000, is focused exclusively on teenagers and women. Meanwhile, the latest entrant, Murugappa Group’s Tube Investments of India (TII), is launching its electric bikes under the BSA brand in Kerala shortly.

Electric bikes need neither a licence nor registration, making them as easy to own as a bicycle. “The trend has caught on and we will see more innovation and style in electric bikes in India,” says Avinash Bhandari, joint managing director and group CEO of Electrotherm.
An ACNeilsen report says the market for electric vehicles in India is expected to grow from about 200,000 units at the end of last year to 490,000 units by March 2009. As for power outages, there is the nuclear deal now. The timing couldn’t be better.

Motorcycle Sidecar is Literally a Car

Adjectives fail me. This almost seems like one of those sci-fi movies where an evil scientist tries to cross two deadly animals together to create the ultimate killing machine.
So what are we looking at? It seems to be the deformed love child of a Citroën Xantia and a Kawasaki 1000 RX.
This custom project, called “Snaefell“, cost its creator about 15000 Euros and 10 years of part time work. I have to wonder “why?”.
I guess if you really love the thrill of riding a motorcycle but none of your friends and family do, this concept makes sense. Or not. Would they want to be seen in this? Hopefully those windows are tinted.

2010 Honda V4 Teaser

Based on the concept model unveiled last October at Intermot 2008, the new motorcycle is expected to be a sport-tourer powered by a 1200cc V-4 engine with variable cylinder technology which can allow it to run on only two cylinders to conserve fuel. There are also rumors that the motorcycle will have a semi-auto gear box which will give the rider the option of going manual or automatic.
Hit the jump to see the new promo video (you can hear what the motorcycle sounds like!) and an interview with design project leader, Teofilo Plaza.

Batman’s Original Batcycle

While Christian Bale had the advantage of riding the Batpod in black body armor, there is something about wearing tights and a cape that make Batman riding a motorcycle with boy wonder in the sidecar that seems less than intimidating.

The original Batcycle, a 1965 Harley Davidson with a sidecar, made its debut in1966 in the television series. Later that year, a new Batcycle was introduced as the original was leased and had to be returned.

Produced by Kustomotive using a Yamaha Catalina 250, this new Batcycle (seen in picture) was first used in the 1966 film Batman and continued to appear in the rest of the TV series until cancellation in March of 1968. Most of the stunt work done on the motorcycle (special effects and CGI didn’t quite exist back then) were done by Hubie Kerns and Victor Paul throughout the series. The bike was allegedly leased to 20th Century Fox by Kustomotive for a startling $50 a week. Oh, those were the days.

Jensen Motorcycle Radio

Installation

The JHD910 radio was mounted on a 2007 Yamaha FJR1300 and while easy to accomplish, the planning took a little thought. The instructions are a simple 12-page stapled document (also available in this .pdf document), but they provide the basics of what is needed to install the unit without lots of fluff, warnings, cautions, and other political correctness.
The radio itself is roughly the width and thickness of a common 2X4" wooden stud, cut to slightly more than five inches in length, so the first consideration was where to mount it. Because the waterproof buttons must be firmly pressed to operate the radio, the mounting should be solid and not on one of the GPS/cell phone ball-mounts that can tilt when pushed.
The bike already had a custom aluminum sub-panel bracket for mounting a GPS, heat controller, and power outlet, so the heat controller was moved elsewhere and the GPS had to learn to share space with the Jensen. The width of the radio on this bracket still allowed more than a half-inch of clearance to the handlebars at full travel in each direction.
The radio could have also been mounted easily on the left inner fairing panel, over the clutch reservoir, or over the steering stem.
The radio has 4 tapped holes in back for mounting screws. The little stamped-steel mounting bracket that came with the radio was only used to drill the pattern of mounting holes and then discarded. Making this change is highly encouraged.
Stainless steel hardware is provided with the JHD910 radio rather than the cheaper stuff that could have saved Jensen a few cents but which would rust. Blue Loctite was used on the various fasteners.

Tom Sepe's Steampunk Motorbike

.An Interview By Meredith Scheff

Wandering through the industrial neighborhood of West Oakland, You'll find more than a few warehouse art studios, each one filled to the brim with all manner of projects; from giant robots to huge metal art - and of course steam machines. A few days ago, I was fortunate enough to be invited into the studio of one of the artists that reside there; a fine chap by the name of Tom Sepe. After sending out a call for willing subjects (aka, interview-ees), Tom contacted me and, with but a few words, lured me into his studio. Those words were simply: "Want to come see my electric-steam hybrid motorcycle?". He calls it the Whirlygig Emoto.
What self-respecting grease monkey could possibly refuse? Sure, it meant a long haul across water and land. But I put my nose to the grind-stone for you, and for science.

The Uno - Segway meets motorcycle

The 2008 National Motorcycle Show in Toronto has always been heavily influenced by the American V-twin crowd and highlights some of the area's top custom builders who have on display a fine array of one-off custom machines.
This year's show, however, had one very unusual one-off custom, the Uno. The orange and grey coloured Uno made its first public appearance balanced on its two side-by-side wheels and its footpegs. Looking more like it should have been ridden by George Jetson as he pulled up to his space platform, it looked out of place amid the other custom creations in the building. Perhaps that's why it garnered so much attention. Since no one has ever seen a machine like this, the first question asked by on-lookers was:

10 Weird Burger Inspired Designs

It seems there is no shortage of crazy burger pics and impressive (if not a little gross) works of “hamburger art.” This homage to the all-American love of beef patties is enough to bring a tear to your eye (and cholesterol to your arteries!).
To all our carnivores readers out there – here are our fave Web Hamburgers:

Two symbols of the United States, the burger and Harley-Davidson motorcycles unite into an incredibly strange looking and most likely smelling combination, the Burger Trike. Hamburger enthusiast Harry Sperl has sacrificed a 1987 Harley-Davidson to create this unique crazy looking thing which has even onion-like rear wheels while the front rim looks like a tomato slice so the menu is complete and ready to be served.

GPS Map Files for all the Hotels

Click Gps2006EuropeHotels.zip to download a Zip file containing all the locations of the hotels on GPS. The zip contains two redundant forms, I include both because you might be able to read one and not the other. One is a standard "MPS" GPS file, the other is a newer "GDB" GPS file which I think is Garmin GPS specific. I use the software "MapSource" with the "European City Navigator 8" map set to read these most accurately. You can click 2006_europe_hotels to see a list of the hotels.
